Zusammenfassung:	The possibility of modification of polyvinyl alcohol with epichlorohydrin was examined with the aim of preparing hemocompatible materials exhibiting high mechanical density at limited swellability. The conditions of modification and preparation of branched polyvinyl alcohol and of hemocompatible hydrogel systems with improved operation properties were determined.
