Zusammenfassung:with the development of electronic communication technology, and the need of robust and efficient solutions to solve the limitations and address the challenges of the current grid. A new concept has emerged which is known as the smart grid. Smart grid is the deployment of digital processing and communication technologies inside the electrical grid, in order to deliver an intelligent power grid, that enables: reliability in electrical power delivery, an active participation of the consumers, security against malicious attacks by deploying better physical and IT security protocols, resiliency against component failure And natural disasters, integration of new services and renewable resources such as wind and solar energy that will preserve a clean environment. This Paper presents the current smart grid Technologies, and focuses on demand side management (DSM) programs that aim at reducing the peak electricity demand of customers and minimizing their energy costs.
