Zusammenfassung: | This paper proposes a response to the issue of the appropriate function and orientation of a bachelor's degree in humanities. In this respect, we reassert our confidence in the ability of the humanities today to be an engine for human and social development and to prepare people to become engaged citizens and professionals in the cultural sector. Among the pedagogical tools that prompt the transformative catharsis of students, the paper singles out reading the great books in our cultural tradition. By way of example, we analyse a contemporary version of the myth of Antigone, Antigone's Tomb by Maria Zambrano, to see how the humanities can contribute to a reflection on the identity and social engagement of students as well as preparing them to become professionals in the cultural sector. |
