Zusammenfassung:David Morley and Margaret Woodland, of the Tropical Health Unit of the Institute of Child Health of London, describe how a special home-based record system can contribute a better understanding of a child's mental, physical, and social development. [...]more than a million such records are being introduced annually into deprived areas where malnutrition and infectious disease ravage children under five. If health workers are able to reach every family, then a simple family registry and reports of deaths and births recorded at home visits would permit the calculation of infant mortality and one-to-four mortality rates.
