LA COLONIZACIÓN/CORPOREIZACIÓN DEL ESPACIO EN LA PEREGRINACIÓN A SAN JUAN DESDE LAGOS DE MORENO

This article is about the pilgrims who walk from Lagos de Moreno to San Juan de los Lagos, in the region of Los Altos de Jalisco. After participating in eleven pilgrimages the author has elaborated a phenomenological and ethnographic reflection which presents the way in which the body conquers the space where hierophany emerges. While the pilgrimage is made with one's body, one's feet are what offer a set of bodily techniques consecrated to the integration of tactile knowledge which offers the pilgrim dominion of the sacred space and which hereafter will provide social knowledge. Throughout the text the author analyzes how the pilgrims' feet become the main bodily support by means of which the body colonizes the sacred space over which the trekkers move on their way to the sanctuary.
