Zusammenfassung:The goal of this article is to examine the life and intellectual career of one of the greatest jurists of the Saharo-Sahelian area : Shaykh Bay al-Kunti. A jurist by training, he was the descendant of a powerful and famous political and religious lineage whose scientific tradition he perpetuated into the 20th century. His extensive legal scholarship produced a large corpus of legal exempla. As an introduction to the text, and prior to its forthcoming publication, the two authors of this article studied the corpus based on three handwritten copies and offer an overview of this legal compilation.
