Zusammenfassung:Rhino orbito cerebral mucormycosis is a rare, fatal, invasive fungal infection that occurs mostly in patients with immunocompromised conditions, such as diabetes mellitus. The prevalence of this rare condition is escalating due to the increased numbers of patients with diabetes, hematologic malignancies, and organ transplantations. Timely diagnosis and judicious treatment decisions can reduce complication rates and improve survival. It is imperative for nurse practitioners as primary care providers to have adequate knowledge in identifying mucormycosis to initiate the appropriate treatment without delay. •Mucormycosis is a rare, fatal, invasive fungal sinusitis.•Uncontrolled diabetes one of the most common predisposing factors for mucormycosis.•Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to successful patient outcome.•Correcting underlying conditions, surgical debridement, and antifungal therapy are mainstays of treatment.•A multidisciplinary team approach is essential for successful management.
