Zusammenfassung: | The tone of the liner notes is informal and laid-back, in contrast with the rounder releases, although thorough documentation is provided regarding tune sources, instrumentation, personnel, and the like. if you were unfamiliar with the previous releases, however, these notes are not very informative about lamb himself apart from the following: "much has been written elsewhere about Dwight's life and musical formation. in this recording, we will just say that he's a gentleman of the very finest mettle, and one we're proud to call mentor, role model, and friend." that aside, the notes do provide some context of the larger missouri Valley tradition in terms of instrumentation and musicians involved, and they include photos of the players on the project as well as their musical ancestors (some of whom were Dwight's contemporaries). |
