SOME LESSONS LEARNED by SMSG

In the more than fourteen years since the founding of the School Mathematics Study Group, we have learned a good deal about mathematics education. A review of some of this may be of interest. Let me start with two obvious facts, both of which we all probably knew before SMSG got started.
