Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Leadership Development Through Service Learning edited by Wendy Wagner and Jennifer M. Pigza (see record 2016-34752-000). This volume of New Directions for Student Leadership makes two assumptions. The first is that service learning, when done right, easily translates itself to a leadership development experience. The other is that any service-learning endeavor that is not oriented toward social justice is unfair to both sides and is perhaps even unethical. According to the reviewer, independently, service learning and leadership are useful tools to enhance student performance and outcomes. If one is inclined to integrate social justice into the mix, then these articles will provide strong theoretical and moral support as well as specific suggestion and examples.
