Perceptual Shape Tuning Reflected in Neuronal Adaptation to Upright and Inverted Faces

Examining the fMRI response amplitudes revealed surprisingly increased activity for inverted compared to upright faces in mid-level visual areas overlapping house and object-sensitive regions, and similar levels of activity in the fusiform face area (FFA).
