Zusammenfassung: | The present work is part of the main research named "For the right to adequate housing: mapping informal urban settlements in Belo Horizonte City and its Metropolitan Area (Brazil)" developed on the scope of the "City and Otherness Program" in partnership with the "Citizenship Pole Program" - both carried out in the Law School at Federal University of Minas Gerais. This paper aims to present to what extent and how the urban occupation of the Metropolitan Area of Belo Horizonte contribute to the spatial reconstruction of the city and foster the emergence of citizenship and the reduction of inequalities.
