Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Connecting Analytical Thinking and Intuition: And the Nights Abound With Inspiration by Anders Omstedt (see record 2016-16007-000). This book offers a scientist’s perspective on the issue of how to integrate the analytical and intuitive, with the inclusion of very personal dream material and its links to his unique oceanographic research. The chapters move through the steps of the Ullman dream group method, using Omstedt’s own dreams as illustrations of the significant moments in which insights from his dreams, and his gradually emerging differentiated identity, connected with his research in oceanography. Verbal accounts of dream imagery contrast starkly with the scientific diagrams utilized in the effort to probe the depths of the oceans. A series of photographs by Hillevi Nagel are scattered throughout the book and linked to “exercises to practice connecting analytical thinking and intuition” (pp. 53–54) and one set of his own “solutions” to the exercises.
