Back Cover: Structural Insights into Conformation Differences between DNA/TNA and RNA/TNA Chimeric Duplexes (ChemBioChem 18/2016)

The back cover picture shows a stylized chimeric duplex of the artificial genetic polymer threose nucleic acid (TNA) base‐paired with DNA. The constitutional backbone structure of TNA and DNA are also shown. Underlying these are temperature‐dependent imino proton NMR spectra of a DNA/TNA chimeric du...

Zusammenfassung:The back cover picture shows a stylized chimeric duplex of the artificial genetic polymer threose nucleic acid (TNA) base‐paired with DNA. The constitutional backbone structure of TNA and DNA are also shown. Underlying these are temperature‐dependent imino proton NMR spectra of a DNA/TNA chimeric duplex. The authors used biophysical approaches, including NMR‐detected measurements to study single‐base‐pair thermodynamics in order to probe and understand the structural and thermodynamic underpinnings of Watson–Crick DNA/TNA and RNA/TNA heteroduplexes.
