Zusammenfassung: | The First World War had multiple effects on people who have lived in Southeastern Europe. Both Serbs and Turks participated in the war under different circumstances. Both nations shared common features that greatly affected their future. These features mainly pertained to the survival of arduous battles and the suffering of high casualty rates. The outcome of the war has to a large extent reflected upon the literary scene of both nations. Even though the writing style of Serbian and Turkish writers differed, there was a common humanistic aspect that was shared by the two nations. This aspect allowed the two nations, which had previously experienced the tragedy of war, to absorb the universal values such as peace and empathy, and to express these values through their literary works. Turkish and Serbian writers described the events from the war period with great ingenuity. During our research, we have uncovered common features pertaining to these two seeminlgy distant literary scenes. The research encompasses these common features as well as analyzes Turkish and Serbian literary works. |
