El outsider y las elecciones presidenciales en el Perú (2001, 2006 y 2011)/The outsider and presidential elections (2001, 2006 and 2011)

This article discusses the importance g iven to outsider candidates in recent presidentia l election process in Peru, in the period bet ween the collapse of the Fujimori reg ime and the impending General Election 2016. The authors propose a classification of outsiders and insiders in the presidentia l elections of recent years (EG 2001, EG 20 06 and EG 2011), finding that the participation of the first would be over valued, as they have had little popular support and have failed to win the elections. The importance of these characters, however, lie in the " discourse outsider" that has been built around its figure, based on the criticism of the politica l establishment and the emphasis on a change of the status quo; and used both by outsiders as some insiders.
