NJEGOS NA JADRANU: Kaj imata crnogorski nacionalni pesnik in njegovo »gorsko zatocisce« opraviti z Mediteranom?

At the bicentenary of his birth, the Montenegrin poet Njegos was canonized for the third time, this time as a Montenegrin national poet. In this chapter, the cultural context of the poet's literary creation as well as of his reception (including the three subsequent canonizations) is analyzed. An alternative view of Njegos as a significant promoter of the Adriatic Illiryanism (Yugoslavism) is proposed. The neighboring Bay of Kotor, where Njegos used to be a frequent guest and where plenty of "relics" remained af ter him, was one of its most important centers on the Adriatic coast.
