Zusammenfassung:According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), from 1993 to 2014, violent crime rates fell from 79.8 to 20.1 victimizations per 1,000 people, and property crime rates fell from 351.8 to 118.1 victimizations per 1,000 households.7 Increased incarceration, especially of violent offenders, certainly deserves some of the credit for this steep drop in crime rates, but just how much is a matter of some debate among criminologists.
