Zusammenfassung:The German-Jordanian University (GJU) is a public institution of higher education located in Amman, Jordan, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Founded in 2005, it is still a very young university. Its unique selling proposition is the compulsory 4th year in Germany, during which every student spends one semester at a partner university and a second semester doing an internship. In the first three years of their studies, all students have to pass six levels of German in a tailor-made program provided by the German Language Center. This article outlines the structure of the center, describes the module-based German language tuition and discusses the challenges faced by one of the biggest German Language Centers in the world.
