Zusammenfassung:Painted ceramics have a special place during the Iron Age at Central Anatolia. This is because the embellishment on the cups gives us information on the technical advance of the potter and on the taste of the society. Furthermore, motif types give us clues to understand the cultural relations among different ceramic traditions. Their comparison with each other helps us to determine their chronology. In short, embellished ceramics during Iron Age are evaluated in this study in order to reveal social structure, taste and needs of the Kinik Höyük society. Ceramics from Kinik Höyük are divided into two types: monochrome and polychrome and polychrome is sub-divided into biochrome and trichrome. In general, monochrome ceramics have geometric and figurative motifs. Moreover, brown or black colors are applied over buff in the monochrome ceramics. On the other hand, while color usage is the same for polychrome ceramics, they include geometric, figurative and plant motifs. The number of figurative and plant motifs are few. Biochrome ceramics show no color variation so that tones of red and black or white over brown are used for them. Red and black color tradition appear at the matt and pale colored ceramics during Early Iron Age (11th-9th centuries B.C.). Colors became brighter during Late Iron Age (7th-4th centuries B.C). Trichrome technique is gained by applying red and black colors to bright colored panels or to red or black on frame technique.
