Zusammenfassung:The comes Hispaniarum Asterius has hitherto been best known for his campaign against the Vandals in Gallaecia in 420. On the basis of a letter in the Augustinian corpus (Aug. Ep. 11*, dated in the Appendix to between October 420 and May 421), this paper argues that he was also responsible for the suppression of the usurper Maximus, and that it was this campaign that best explains his subsequent promotion to the patrician dignity./Le renom du comes Hispaniarum Asterius était jusqu'à présent surtout associé à sa campagne de 420 contre les Vandales en Galice.
