He was appointed to the commandership of the Ottoman naval services three times at intervals in the periods of III. Ahmed and I. Mahmud. Canim Hoca Mehmed Pasha as a commander of the Ottoman naval forces participated to the Ottoman -Venetian struggle in the Mediterranean Sea and the Ottoman - Russian struggle in the Black Sea in a time the Ottoman State made an effort to overcome negative effects of the Karlowitz Treaty. It seems that he could not receive the attention that he deserves in the Ottoman history even though he had critical services in Ottoman navy. His bold actions and disagreements with other statesmen played a very important role in his removal.
