The United States of America and Germany have a long-lasting special connection and this is also true for the library and information science. Inspired by the direct motivation for this publication the question of mutual stimulation and exchange should be raised here as a cursory description of this relation – fastened to the topics of standards and formats, actors and forms of exchange and digital preservation.
