Rationale Hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks result from uncontrolled contact system activation which generates a burst of plasma kallikrein (pKal) that cleaves high-molecular-weight kininogen (HMWK) to produce 2-chain HMWK and the edema-inducing peptide, bradykinin.
