Zusammenfassung:This study examined the impact of innovative efforts, measured by investment in Research and Development, under the sales growth, considering different 'degrees of proximity' with the frontier. To test the hypothesis, we built a regression model with panel data considering 1,500 firms with financial data from 2012. We calculated the Total Factor Productivity of each firm and constructed an index of proximity to the frontier (firm with higher productivity). The results show that firms closed to the frontier, employ the R&D resources more efficiently, obtaining estimates of growth than firms further behind.
