Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Love's Refraction: Jealousy and Compersion in Queer Women's Polyamorous Relationships by Jillian Deri (see record 2015-25795-000). With this book, Deri explores how jealousy is dealt with in polyamorous relationships. Alhough still considered a marginalized group, interest in polyamory has grown in recent years. The mainstream media have shown increasing interest in polyamory, as evidenced by stories in popular media such as CNN and Newsweek. There has also been increasing interest in the scientific community, but overall there is a paucity of scientific research on the topic. Deri’s book helps further our understanding of the topic through interviews with polyamorous women. Her use of in-depth qualitative interviews allows for greater understanding of the complexities of polyamory. Deri’s book challenges the mono-normative views of relationships many of us hold. She sheds light on an underresearched and at oftentimes misunderstood population. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
