Zusammenfassung: | The daily consumption practices are in the mainstream of discussions on sustainable development since the 1990s. It is found that they are unsustainable due to the social and environmental impacts they cause. Modify them, therefore, became to be regarded as one of the main goals of sustainable development. In this sense, Ribeiro and Veiga (2011) developed a Sustainable Consumption scale that seeks to assess the attitudes and the behavior of consumers in terms of conscious consumer, from four dimensions: ecological awareness, resource saving, recycling and frugality. Therefore, the aim of this study was to perform a comparative study of the attitudes and consumption behaviors of students and teachers of the Federal University of Campina Grande - PB, from the Sustainable Consumption Scale proposed by Ribeiro and Veiga (2011). Therefore, in methodological terms, was held a Survey of quantitative and descriptive nature. The results show that most of the variables investigated is not evaluated positively with regard to the attitudes and behaviors of conscious consumer among the groups surveyed. In addition, with the completion of mean comparison test (Student's t test) noted that a dimension of recycling statistically significant differences for all variables between the groups investigated. This research contributed to the advance in the discussion on the topic to seek to verify the existence of differences in the behavior of conscious consumer among students and teachers, which are inserted in a context where opinions are formed and shared and can help promote a culture of sustainable consumption. |
