Pressure ulcers (UP) are recognized as a public health problem. Their presence can mean a prolongation in the time of hospitalization, as well as being a notable risk of possible complications in afflicted individuals. This study aims to describe the construction process and applicability of Cordel Literature as a health education tool in UP prevention with family members of hospitalized persons. It has been demonstrated that the use of Cordel is opportune to inform, guide, remove doubts of the family and patients in an entertaining manner, approaching scientific knowledge to common sense by adding the language of users, which facilitates communication between them and the professionals. By portraying characters that can be inserted in the imagination of readers and these can identify themselves, there is a triggering of behavioral changes with the adoption of preventive measures against the formation of UP.
