The research strategy adopted was a multiple case study with two cases, both of which were considered as units of analysis of the parent organizations and the spin-offs. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed by content analysis, categorizing them into themes. Among the results, it was observed that the type of connection and the resources provided contribute to the consolidation of new businesses. It was also found that the parent organization tends to support cases where the spin-off is part of its value chain.
