Zusammenfassung: | This paper explains how to achieve greater influence for ethical considerations in climate change policy formation. Climate change must be understood essentially as a civilisation challenging ethical problem for several reasons. First, it is a problem caused largely by some high-emitting nations and individuals that are putting others at risk who often have done little to cause the problem. Second, the harms to the most vulnerable include catastrophic impacts to life and ecological systems on which life depends. Third, those who are most vulnerable to climate impacts often can do little to protect themselves, including partitioning their governments to prevent harsh climate damages. The victims' best hope is often that those most responsible for climate change will respond to their ethical duties to not harm them. |
