Initial concentration of IL-4 and SIRS score on admission as a predictor of outcome in severe acute pancreatitis

Introduction: Early recognition of severe form of acute pancreatitis is important because these patients need more agressive dignostic and therapeutical approach an can develope systemic complications such as: sepsis, coagulopathy, Acute Lung Injury (ALI), Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), Multiple Organ Failure (MOF).
