Zusammenfassung:We are interested in studying the natural and symbolic language used in the context of teaching higher mathematics. In particular we develop a conceptualization of symbolic language that allows us to present explanations to difficulties that are present in higher-level teachers and we describe in this work. They originate at two types of tasks: explain, using natural language, the meaning of a definition or a property that is presented in symbols or express in symbols a written text presented in natural language. The work was developed with teachers attending a training course that we coordinate at the National University of Salta, Oran, in 2013. Some of the difficulties identified, allow us to propose explanations and establish certain keys for initial and continuing teacher education.
