RITES AND REASONS

Howard describes Research-to-Performance Method, a workshop hosted by Brown University's Department of African Studies at Rites and Reason Theater during the 2012 Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. The purpose and approach of this fiction workshops is to use layers of creation, dialogue, and revision to guide writers to a point of completion. The workshop offers an important intersection for writers of color. The gathering provides access to a collective, but it also stresses the importance of an individualized storytelling approach.
