SELF-REPORTED LOWER EXTREMITY EDEMA IN THE ABSENCE OF HEART FAILURE IS AN INDEPENDENT RISK FACTOR FOR INCIDENT HEART FAILURE AMONG COMMUNITY-DWELLING OLDER ADULTS

Conclusion: Among community-dwelling older adults, self-reported LE edema was an independent risk factor for incident HF which occurred after 10 years of median follow-up, but had no association with all-cause mortality, the median time to occurrence of which was only 1-2 years longer.
