Zusammenfassung:Creating and managing a National System for Evaluating school is a complex problem the majority of OECD countries is nowadays facing with variously effective solutions. The aim of this work is to answer two questions: which are the main critical points to be avoided and the main important actions to be performed, particularly inside the Italian context. An example to show the direction to be followed is added. According to the author it is necessary to put in evidence the formative nature of the evaluation, that is the possibility of providing schools with an immediate feedback, useful to demonstrate to the subjects involved how the improvement can be achieved. On the contrary the evaluation will remain perceived by the teachers as an invasive intrusion inside the personal sphere of the teacher.
