Zusammenfassung: | The world of endocrinology is saddened by the loss of its esteemed colleague, J. Lester Gabrilove, MD, FACE, the Florence and Theodore Baumritter Professor of Medicine Emeritus at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at the age of 98. For more than 7 decades, he served Mount Sinai, the Department of Medicine, and the Division of Endocrinology with boundless energy and enthusiasm for research, discovery, and patient care. He is widely considered to be one of the founding fathers of modern endocrinology, having cowritten one of the first textbooks on adrenal diseases, "The Human Adrenal Gland," together with Louis J. Soffer, MD, as well as an important endocrine textbook, "Diseases of the Endocrine Glands." |
