Zusammenfassung: | Academia is a laberinto that is difficult to maneuver because although as academicians the researchers are taught about theory, research, and writing -- they are unfortunately not taught how to survive the difficult world of academia. In many cases, they are asked the questions of whether they want to go to a teaching university or a research university. Often, the only distinction that is given between the two is that in a research university they will have to publish or perish. Yet, not much is said about all the other elements of a tenure track position which for many turns out to be the most difficult those unspoken, invisible, and intangible aspects of academia that perhaps one just takes for granted but actually have a lasting effect on the successful outcome of many Latinas in academia. The laberinto of academia was separated by different factors: 1. emotional, 2. academic, and 2. built community inside and outside academia. |
