GS is the most common extra-osseous spinal mass in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).28 These are highly vascular solid masses which, on MRI, appear iso- to hyper-intense on T1-weighted images, and intermediate- to hypo-intense on T2-weighted images, and show marked contrast enhancement, as well as diffusion restriction.29 Similar to focal masses of lymphoma, GS can cause effacement of the thecal sac and cord compression (Figure 18). |
