Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:It will be shown with the example of some Vergil verses discussed by Priscian that the beginning of some Vergil hexametres unambigously contradicts the German hypothesis of accentual metrics in Latin, and that the pronunciation of classical Latin hexametres with an ictus must be considered unhistorical. A testimony by Priscian on different lengths of syllables true to pronunciation is discussed, which suprasses the conventional metrical differentiation between only short and long syllables and corresponds to the tradition of musical treatises.
