Zusammenfassung:Operation at low temperatures sets special demands on the engine (preheating, heat reten-tion, starting device, etc.) with the aim to decrease the starting time when cold starting. For that purpose preheating is necessary at component part temperatures below -20 to-30 °C. The analysis of rotational losses when cold starting a motor shows that the partof the friction coming from the bearings increases against that of the piston when enginestarting temperature is low.
