Zusammenfassung:V. Voiculescu explores in the short story The Taimen the mythical domain of Slima apelor, female water spirit and protean figure of deadly seduction, who occupies a place of choice in Romanian mythology. Although greatly faithful to the myth, of which he borrows the diegetic sequences and the founding motifs and themes, the author is nonetheless prone to remotivation. Tradition and subtle variations thus combine in the text not only in order to draw a plenary and striking portrait of Stima apelor, but also in order to entail a reinterpretation of the myth. When sublime love and erotic ties belonging to denronomagic confront each other and merge, Stima apelor no longer appears only as a fatal evil temptress, but also as the embodiment of an ideal though cursed love. This study emphasizes the harmonization of invariants and modulations that the myth brings out, as it is forged by V. Voiculescu, while opening up to research the Romanian mythical and literary field, which, for the time being, remains largely unknown.
