Highlights * We evaluate a centrin deleted parasite as vaccine in dogs. * We compare with a commercially available recombinant vaccine. * The vaccine was highly safe and immunogenic. * The findings will contribute to the understanding of immunogenicity elicited by live attenuated vaccines.
