Near Real-Time Electronic Feedback to Improve Hand Hygiene Adherence

In June 2012, our institution started a new hand hygiene observation program and subsequently determined that adherence rates were unacceptably low. While planning a comprehensive hand hygiene improvement campaign, we decided to create a near real-time feedback system.
