Zusammenfassung:Immediate use steam sterilization (IUSS), previously called flash sterilization, may be associated with increased risk of surgical infection. Best practice guidelines state that the use of IUSS should be kept to a minimum. The rates of IUSS indicated that the frequency of IUSS was consistently higher than best practice recommendations. In addition, the rate of IUSS was noted to be increasing. A systematic, multidisciplinary quality improvement process was used to address this Issue.
