Zusammenfassung:Many hospitals participate in the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for the reporting of hospital associated infections. Effective January 1, 2013, the CDC developed a new definition for Ventilator-Associated Events (VAE's) on patients greater than 18 years old. This definition objectifies ventilator settings (Fraction of Inspired Oxygen [FiO2] and Positive End-Expiratory Pressure [PEEP]), clinical data (temperature, white blood cell count and antibiotic use) and microbiologic data.
