Artur Schnabel's 50th anniversary of death in 2001 prompted two musical tributes to his legacy, one in New York and one in Berlin. In New York, Paul Zukofsky and Joel Krosnick offered a two-week workshop on Schnabel's music. The Berliner Akademie der Künste presented fifteen concerts featuring Schnabel's work. Pianist and composer Schnabel wrote with a unique and individual style. His music, though very difficult and unusual, has drawn critical acclaim and a following among musicians.
