Le poesie di Davide Segre: un'appendice inedita a La Storia/Davide Segre's Poems: an Unpublished Appendix to La Storia

The manuscripts of History contain a few letters that reveal the proposal to publish an Appendix to the novel: two poems written by Davide Segre as a teenager. These poems (Spring and God) reflect on the idea of Poetry and the role of the Poet, together with the perception of art as a way to speak to God. Analyzing this unpublished Appendix, it is possible to focus on the character of Davide Segre and the relationship between Useppe and him. The poems also allow to underline the contradictions of Davide Segre and his idea of God, Religion and Poetry. It is, finally, a philological approach to the whole manuscript of the novel that suggest the reasons for not publishing Davide's notebook.
