Zusammenfassung: | [...]because of the hospitalization for acute pancreatitis after presentation with acute bronchospasm and urticaria related to ibuprofen ingestion and the undetermined cause of her bouts of pancreatitis, we first obtained written clearance from her treating gastroenterologist that aspirin use was believed unlikely to induce pancreatitis in our patient. Additionally, our patient had a close temporal association with ingestion of aspirin and the onset of naso-ocular and respiratory symptoms typical of patients with AERD during aspirin desensitization only to be followed by epigastric pain and subsequent detection of elevated pancreatic enzymes, suggesting aspirin-induced pancreatitis. [...]our patient reacted at the 40-mg dose, which is typical for patients with AERD based on previous publications.6 This symptom progression mirrors her previous hospitalization after ibuprofen ingestion, although we cannot rule out underlying biliary disease (sludge, PD, or both) playing a role at that time. |
