Zusammenfassung:International Association of Universities (IAU) is pleased to present you this issue of Higher Education Policy featuring three papers related to the theme of the IAU project on Innovative Approaches to Doctoral Education in Africa (IDEA-PhD). Since 2009, IAU has been developing a series of initiatives within the context of this project, starting with a comparative approach to doctoral education in Africa that aimed at mapping the changing nature of doctoral education at a selection of Francophone and Anglophone universities.
