Steric Hindrance by Bromination of Alkylbenzenes

This experiment is novel in that the liquid reactants, bromine and the alkylbenzene, are adsorbed separately on alumina, and the reaction occurs when the two solids are mixed and shaken. Here, Cooley and Abobaker discuss the results and conclusions of the experiment.
